Stone Monuments
& Markers
Legacy Memorials is committed to quality craftsmanship when designing a monument for your loved one. Our laser technology – used with sandblasting techniques – allow us to create any combination of photos, graphics, and text for unique headstones, grave markers, and monuments.
The ability to do everything in-house gives us control over the entire process, from start to finish. This allows us to be more efficient, provide you with quicker timelines, lower prices and better overall service.
Types of Stone Monuments & Markers
Depending on the regulations of the specific cemetery you're working with, different sizes and types of markers, monuments, and headstones may be permitted. Below are some examples to guide your selection. Your local funeral home should be able to help guide you through this process as well.
Flat/Grass and Bevel markers sit either on a cement pad or directly on the ground. Flat/Grass markers can also be set into cement (flush mounted).
Upright markers, or dies, are available in flat top, serp top, or oval top. Upright markers require a granite base, which can have smooth (sawn) edges or rough rock (broken) edges. Sawn edges have the option of being polished. The base can be the same colour as the die, or different, depending on your preference. Typically a cement pad is installed underneath.
Slant markers are available in flat top, serp top, or a rounded oval top. A granite base is not required but is an option. Typically a cement pad is installed underneath.
Stone Colour Options
Choose from a diverse range of stone colour options to perfectly match your vision.
We make and mark traditional headstones in many shapes and colours, with polished faces as well as polished or broken edges and bases to match. We also do non-traditional (natural) type stones for memorial purposes which we have both polished and unpolished on one surface. Our granite headstones are ordered in from all over the world to offer the many different colors needed. Each stone is from a certain area where it occurs naturally, for instance Dakota Mahogany is from Dakota, USA, Black Granite is from either China or India, Blue Pearl is from Norway, Barre Grey is from the town of Barre, Vermont, etc.
Below is a selection of what we typically stock, but this can change depending on availability.
*Please note that colours can look slightly different depending on the screen you're previewing this on. Granite is a natural substance which means the grain and striation (look) will be slightly different from piece to piece. If you're able to come into our showroom to have a look in person at our current stone stock that can always be helpful.

Add-Ons and Personalizations
Add another layer of uniqueness with scene enhancements, image or photo inserts, and specialized laser engraving. A few examples are below, but the possibilities are truly endless!

Photo Inserts
We can add an enameled steel portrait of your loved one to their monument. Our photo inserts come in various sizes from 2"X3" up to 8"X10. They are extremely durable and have a life time warranty. We can always get a replacement if they are damaged.

Custom Drawing
If you have a specific image or object that helps to represent your loved one and would like to see it featured on your loved one's monument, our artist can draw and recreate it on the headstone.

Photo Engraving
Photos, portraits, and images that require a little more detail can be engraved on to the granite surface. After engraving we add either black or white colour to help the image stand out. Photo engraving works best on black or very dark stone with less grain (pattern)
